Medical DetoxificationAt the Thorpe Recovery Centre, treatment is a process, and as such the Thorpe Recovery Centre offers a full suite of services from beginning through to a life living recovery. It often begins with detoxification. Thorpe provides a medically supervised detoxification in a safe, supportive environment. Clients have five sessions a day available to them. Our team focuses on helping clients become medically and emotionally stable. Some of the tools provided include:
The typical length of stay in detox is between 5-7 days, however the length of stay can be extended as required. Residential Addiction ProgramResidential Addiction Treatment programs provide clients with theoretical knowledge; practical skill development; and emotional, intellectual, spiritual and behavioral healing. The centre currently provides a 42 day residential treatment program for substance dependency and gambling addictions. Sexual Addiction CounsellingSexual Addiction Counselling is a new service that the Thorpe Recovery Centre offers. Sex addiction is treated on an outpatient basis through individual and group therapy and is available to those struggling with sex addiction and their spouses. We also offer three day intensive workshops for sex addiction on a quarterly basis or 4 times a year. |

Family ProgramThe Thorpe Recovery Centre recognizes addiction as a family disease since it affects everyone who loves the addict. We currently offer a 4 day family program that allows participants to learn how to better cope with the addiction that is affection their life. 2 Week Refresher ProgramThe Thorpe Recovery Centre offers a 2 week refresher program available for people who have recently relapsed. This is an opportunity for individuals to discover what led to relapse and identify changes that need to be made. This time in treatment allows each person to get grounded in a recovery plan and build on the last stretch of sobriety they have achieved. With each individual’s needs in mind, this program can be extended as necessary. Men's Long Term ResidenceHarris House is a 7 bed, men's post-treatment residence. It is a safe place for men to live while they continue in recovery. Residency typically lasts from 3-18 months and clients are required to work to pay for their room and board and to attend 12-step meetings and counselling sessions. We typically take referrals from other treatment facilities, however all referrals are welcome. Clients must be free of alcohol, drugs and gambling for at least 30 days before residency and we prefer that those applying to live at Harris House have completed a residential addiction program prior to arriving at Harris House. InterventionsBetween 90 and 95 percent of people with an addictive disorder do not enter treatment or self-help groups. The intervention team at the Thorpe Recovery Centre recognizes that families are the strongest tool when dealing with a resistant drug abuser. The Thorpe Recovery Centre's Intervention Team teaches family and friends of those suffering from addiction how to pull together and move towards recovery.
