Short on time, but need some help tackling addictive behaviours? Thorpe can help you.
Family Intensive Program - 2017
Thorpe Recovery Centre's Family Intensive program is designed specifically for families to help them learn new ways to cope with the addiction: methods that will promote recovery for both the family and the addict. It can be incredibly confusing for someone who is not addicted themselves to understand someone else's addictive behaviour.
The Family Intensive Treatment Program provides an opportunity for clients and their families to gain a better understanding of their family of origin and current family system and begin the process of healing together. Clients and their families learn how to better communicate and support each other emotionally and appropriate boundaries. Having both the families and clients working together fosters the healing process and brings the family closer together. This has also been proven as a significant factor in long term healing and recovery.
Sex Addiction Intensive (SA)
Sex addiction is characterized by compulsive sexual behaviour. High risk behaviour that is often part of sex addiction includes: pornography, prostitution, voyeurism, exhibitionism and anonymous sexual encounters. Entering into a Sexual Addiction Intensive program can be an intimidating experience. For most people, the idea of having a sexual addiction is quite embarrassing and the thought of discussing it with an addiction counselor does not sound too enticing. However the process of treatment can help demystify the experience. The Sex Addiction Intensive (SA) include:
Gambling can be just as addictive as drugs and alcohol. Teens and their parents need to know what they're not just gambling with money, they're gambling with their lives. Thorpe provides an environment for you to invest the time in you to gain a deeper sense of self. Through a variety of lectures and group sessions you can gain a better understanding about how impacted you and others.
Facing Early Childhood Trauma
This Intensive looks into early childhood trauma that impacts current daily life. In a safe supportive environment, the intensive allows you to explore the origins that fuel self-defeating behaviours such as addictions, trauma, mood disorders and troubling relationships.
Childhood trauma is approached with compassion and skills are taught in order to re-parent yourself thus promoting healing. The primary focus of this intensive is processing and releasing the negative messages and emotions that were rooted in painful experiences. This is done in three phases:
Loss is an inevitable part of life and grief is a natural part of the healing process. It's normal to feel sad, numb or angry following a loss. But as time passes, these emotions should become less intense as you accept the loss and start to move forward. If you aren't feeling better over time, or your grief is getting worse, it may be a sign that your grief has developed into serious, such as unresolved or complicated grief. Dealing with a significant loss can be one of the most difficult times in a person's life. Traditional support groups encourage grievers to talk about the pain, but don't always offer a path to recovery. The Thorpe Recovery Center's four day Grief intensive supports individuals to move through their grief and take clear action that will move through them forward.
Unresolved grief is being stuck in an intense state of mourning. You may have trouble accepting the long loss after it has occurred or be so preoccupied with the loss that it disrupts your daily routine and undermines your other relationships of brothers. Symptoms of unresolved in grief includes:
