Detoxification

General Information

Our detoxification unit is a safe, supportive environment for clients to withdraw from alcohol, street drugs, and abusive amounts of prescription or over-the-counter medications.  It also provides crisis stabilization for individuals experiencing severe problems directly related to gambling.

This unit consists of six (6) beds.  Two (2) are funded by Saskatchewan Health; two (2) by AADAC; and two (2) are reserved as Fee-For-Service beds.  Please contact  our Detox Coordinator Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM for fee for service fees.  All beds are filled on a first come, first served, basis.  The average stay in this department is from five (5) to seven (7) days depending on individual needs.

We are a non-medical facility.  In cases of medical emergencies, we have doctors on call and quick access to the local hospital. Detox may include the use of medications necessary for stabilization; but, the importance of the three following components cannot be overly stressed:

  1. Education on addiction and recovery with two (2) one-hour sessions per day.
  2. Introduction to the twelve-step recovery programs (daily meeting requirement when clients are physically stable)
  3. Assessment and referral to outpatient departments and treatment programs as part of discharge planning.
